introduction
MINERAL COLLECTION FOR SALE
Mineral collection for sale to the highest bidder. All serious bids will be considered.
This extensive species mineral collection offered for sale belongs to an Australian mineral collector who has been collecting minerals in excess of forty years. His main interest has been in trying to collect old, rare and well formed crystal specimens. He has obtained over those many years some really good single crystal specimens and crystals on matrix, these are distributed throughout the collection. Of course, being a serious species collector there are specimens in the collection which are not pretty, but as an Educational tool to an institution in need of an intellectual compilation of a vast cross section of the mineral kingdom, such as [mineralogy, geology, earth science, etc] they are invaluable to any serious mineral collection or avid mineral collector.
The collection contains specimens from all over the world, much of the collection has been gathered from Australian mines such as Broken Hill New South Wales and mines from Tasmania, etc. Many of the specimens are rare or have become rare and come from well known mines worked out a long time ago. The same can be said for other minerals in the collection such as those from the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Swedish-Norse and European localities, etc.
The specimens listed in the indexes are described as in matrix or on matrix merely to simplify the description of the specimen. Most of the specimens have accompanying minerals associated with them and are too cumbersome to codify. Many are duplicated because they are a different color, have a different Crystal habit, different mineral associations, different locations or are just really good specimens.
Mineral sizes may be a little larger or smaller than listed, also the collection is constantly being added to and specimens being exchanged to improve the quality of the collection, there are also many more specimens in the collection than that shown in the lists.
The collection is divided into four parts.
1. MACRO: These are cabinet to large sizes from [3x3” to 15x12”] and has in excess of 2600 Specimens.
2. MICRO: Matchbox to thumbnail, in sizes from [2x2” to 0.5”] excess of 2760 Specimens most in transparent plastic boxes.
3. GEMSTONES: Faceted, cabochon, cats eye, 6-8-12 ray stars, mostly gem Quality in excess of 400 specimens.
4. SUPPLEMENTARY: Excess mineral specimens to the collection approximately 2200
macro specimens and approximately 400 micro specimens.

PLEASE NOTE: That specimens are still being added to the collection at all times, exchanged for other minerals, and are constantly being purchased.
There are also a number of minerals in the collection, which may possibly be new minerals these are unlisted or noted as unidentified. As with all collections, minerals obtained from external sources do not always arrive with the correct name or location, but efforts have been made to establish that all of the specimens named in the collection are indeed truly genuine.
As extras there are also many books and equipment some old microscopes, balances and in excess of 100 thin sections, etc which may be of interest to an avid collector, these will be listed at some later date .
Much of the collection has been photographed, but the photographs do not do justice to the quality of the specimens. If you are interested in having a further look at this collection, please browse through the collection gallery.
