Comment:A very old silver ore specimen pre 1980’s from a famous mine in Broken Hill. This specimen is bursting with Silver. The Silver Haloids are not well known by the average collector, and are easily passed over by dealers who just do not recognise them. Most of the specimens that I have were obtained from the two dollar box at the end of a display table at shows. This specimen is a delightful example of how Silver Haloids should look .They vary in color somewhat due to the amount Cl, I, Br ,etc but are easily recognised once you become familiar with them. Their softness also gives them away.Put a pinhead sized silver haloid onto a piece of zinc plated iron add a drop of water and note the black deposit of silver sulphide.
