Comments: An old english specimen from Fallowfield area a very famous mining area in the northumberland region. I was delighted to have this specimen come into my possession so many years ago.It has had pride of place in my carbonates cabinet alongside Barytocalcite also from the same region. Witherite is a mineral uncommon in the average collection simply because it is not easy to identify. It passes as one of the ordinary carbonates so does not stir up any interest. The crystal form gives it away provided the specimen is crystallized as does also the location.
